Byron Wallis Faculty
Byron Wallis currently resides in Paris, where he performs in a wide variety of ensembles ranging from Baroque to Contemporary. With Ensemble Matheus he performed in 2008 at Carnegie Hall and the Library of Congress. He has also appeared as concertmaster of the Orchestre de Chambre Francais, and plays frequently with the Orchestre Nationale d'Ile de France. Before moving to France, Byron was co-Concertmaster of the Great Falls Symphony and violinist with the Cascade Quartet. He appeared as soloist with the Butte and Great Falls Symphonies during his tenure in Montana, and performed a movement of Schubert's Quintet with Yo Yo Ma. In 1995 he was a recipient of the NEA/ Chamber Music America Rural Residency Grant with the Taliesin Trio. As a teacher, Byron spent seven summers on the faculty at the Festival Adriatico di Musica da Camera in southern Italy, and is currently chamber music coach at the Ischia Chamber Music Festival. In 2007 he was visiting assistant professor of violin at Ithaca College. During his studies toward the Masters degree, he was teaching assistant to Sylvia Rosenberg at the Eastman School of Music. He also holds a Bachelors from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a DMA from the University of Califonia Santa Barbara
